Start with the whole film
TPU stands for thermoplastic polyurethane. A finished automotive film includes more than its base material: the coating, color layer, adhesive and removable protective layers all need to be understood for the particular product. The name TPU alone does not establish a thickness, a self-healing result or a warranty.
Ask what the specification measures
Request the technical data sheet for the exact SKU or construction. For thickness, establish whether the value includes adhesive and excludes the release liner or cap sheet. For a performance claim, ask for the method and conditions. A number without that context is difficult to compare with another product.
Connect the material to your project
Tell the supplier whether you need a color change, a defined level of paint protection, or another application. Ask the installer to review the vehicle surface and the specific application instructions. Do not infer wet or dry installation, stretching limits or removal behavior from the material name.
Use the catalog as the starting point
OptimumWrap’s current color catalog lists TPU. Choose the color and SKU, then discuss available samples, product dimensions and documentation. If you require another material or a custom construction, state it as a requirement so feasibility can be checked.
